Abstract EN

This study aims to know the role of financial development in stimulatingeconomic growth in Algeria during the period 1970-2020.

Usedthe Autoregressive Distributed Lag modelARDL.

The study found a positive relationship between the four variables (private sector loans, gross national expenditure, trade openness, domestic savings)and economic growth, which shows the efficiency of the financial system, and that the policies pursued by the state in reform, for decades, were partially successful, but did not reach the required level.

As for the broad money supply, it had a negative impact on the economic growth because the expansionary monetary policy in Algeria did not contribute toincreasingproductionNevertheless, financial development in Algeria has contributed positively to economic growth, especially government investments, but it is not the best solution, so more attention should be paid to the private sector.
