Naturally living languages give and take through borrowing, particularly vocabularies.

Arabic like other languages certainly borrowed a number of words from other languages in different areas of human life ; and such words became part of it as loans.

there are other foreign words that have not found their way into Arabic, but are being used by people randomly in their conversations and writings anytime the need arises.

the book “nail al-maram bi ziyarat madinat durham” contains a lot of non-Arabic elements that may constitute hindrance against accurate understanding of its content.

this research aims at identifying those elements and shedding light on denotations and explaining the origins of the loans, in order to remove the hurdles before the reader clear him of what might bar him from understanding the content of the book.

to achieve this aim, the descriptive research method which studies a phenomenon and scientifically describes it to arrive at a logical explanation is adopted.

the findings of the research reveals that book contains over one hundred non-Arabic elements that require explanations for true and adequate understanding.
