A branch of postcolonial theory focuses on migration issues and immigrants’ integration and their sufferings.

Homi Bhabha is one of the prominent pioneers of the postcolonial theory who focuses on identity issues that immigrants experience.

this research, employing a descriptive-analytic approach, attempts to investigate the concept of integration in Chicago, a novel written by Ala al-Asvani's.

the results of the research were indicative of the integration of the characters of the story in such aspects as religion, race, language, customs, and traditions.

the results also showed that the immigrants tried to integrate into the foreign culture, but they could not establish a balance between their original culture and the culture of the host country, which made them go through different crises.
