Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the application of governance principles in the Oman football association through three principles (transparency, accountability, and participation).

the study is carried out through a qualitative research methodology, where data were collected using semi-structured interviews and document analysis.

the sample consisted of 12 respondents who work in the Omani sports sector representing five categories related to the association.

the study results show a relative application of the practices of governance principles in the Oman football association.

it indicated a weakness in the transparency indicators and the role of the general assembly in applying accountability and holding the board of directors accountable, in addition to limited participation of stakeholders in formulating work policies.

the study concluded with some recommendations, such as reviewing the laws and legislation related to work in the association and establishing the "governance and ethics committee".

moreover, setting clear performance standards or indicators for the applicable and measurable principles and monitoring and evaluating the process of applying governance practices in sports bodies in the Sultanate of Oman.
