Abstract EN

The right to self-determination is considered one of the most prominent developments in international law during the second half of this century.

Rather, it has returned, as an important international principle that is hardly comparable to any other principle in international law, despite the latter is lack of the legally binding nature of the right of peoples to self-determination.

And its lack of comprehensiveness, due to the lack of keenness of the major colonial powers to apply it, relying on their internal law in regulating their relations with their colonies.

On this basis, we try in this research paper to show the right of self-determination in the concept of international law, as well as a case study of the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, especially in light of the transformation of the principle into a right, as well as the international and regional efforts and endeavors that have been made in this regard.
