Abstract EN

This study aims to demonstrate the path of the Organization of African Unity in embracing the right to development and to highlight its efforts to lay the foundations of supporting African economic cooperation and integration through the Lagos Action Plan, which subsequently established the African Economic Community as such an entity subject of change.

This right is a dual right of the individual and the people.

In response to international and regional changes, African leaders sought to find an effective organization more aligned with the Millennium Declaration and Development Goals than the Organization of African Unity, and to initiate African collective action by uniting African countries within the framework of Partnership for African Development and Africa Agenda 2063 under the African Union.
