Abstract EN

The research aims to re-investigate the book "al-Qurtayn" by ibn Mutarrif in a scientific and accurate manner, and to show the extent of ibn Mutarrif's care in arranging the books "Gharib al-Qur'an" and "interpretation of the problem of the Qur'an" in general topics of his authorship, limiting ibn Mutarrif's additions to ibn Qutaybah in his two books, and knowing the places that ibn Mutarrif omitted from the two books of ibn Qutaybah, and the identification of the reasons that led ibn Mutarrif to delete places from the two books of ibn Qutaybah.

in the theoretical study section, I will follow the inductive-deductive approach, while in the applied study section, I will follow the documentary approach.

one of the most prominent findings of this study is : ibn Mutarrif’s keenness is clear and evident in his arrangement between the two books, especially the book al-Mushkil-which ibn Qutayba wrote in an unarranged order.

therefore, he refined it and added it in order, without prejudice to what ibn Qutayba wanted, and this does not appear except for those who fully read the two books, and his additions to ibn Qutayba’s books varied between a strange statement of poetry-which is the most-or strange prose, or a vague name, or a quote from a verse, or an increase in reading, or a new meaning.

he used referrals in his book, so he was referring to later or previous places from the two earrings or from the two books al-Mushkil and al-Gharib by ibn Qutayba.

the deficiency appeared with ibn Mutrif clearly in one place in the book of the problem, and he declared it, and explained the reason, so there is no blame on him, just as the repetition in some places in the book of two earrings ; it was for the purpose of alerting, as stated in some places, or it was caused by the verse as stipulated in his approach.
