Abstract EN

The objects of this study are to highlight the methodology of ibn Arafa, born Mohammed ibn Mohammed ibn Arafa al-Warghammi (deceased in 1401), his personality and the academic value of his exegesis.

ibn Arafa’s exegesis, which wasn’t written in his own hand but was dictated thereby to his students, is neither too effusive nor too brief.

it was and still is among the most famous exegeses of the 8th century because of its thoughtful methodology and valuable content.

this research paper is composed of an introduction, two chapters, and a conclusion.

in the introduction, the researcher explained that the main reason for choosing the exegesis subject hereof is its importance in refuting the spurious and warped interpretations of some of the Qur'anic verses by the various aberrant sects.

the first chapter contains a brief biography of ibn Arafa and an overview of his exegesis.

the second chapter contains an overview of ibn Arafa’s methodology on Qur'anic interpretation.

the conclusion contains the key findings arrived at by the researcher, of which main one is that ibn Arafa’s methodology was based on a combination of intellectual sciences such as logic and theological sciences such as interpretation and the Arabic language with emphasis upon the rhetorical aspect.

this research relied on the analytical-descriptive approach in addressing the biography of imam ibn Arafa and in overviewing his exegesis, while using the deductive descriptive approach in addressing ibn Arafa’s methodology on Qur'anic interpretation.
