The controversy over the delimitation of the continental shelf was an important matter, which appeared several times in the past, and had major repercussions on Turkish-Greek relations.

More importantly, this is the only issue that Turkey and Greece consider a real point of contention between the two countries.

The research focuses on the characteristics of the Aegean Sea, which in itself presents difficult problems due to its unusual composition that requires special solutions.

It follows the legal concept of the continental shelf.

He then analyzes in detail the chronology of the incidents that occurred under the title of the Continental Shelf Conflict in the Aegean Sea.

The research begins by focusing on the roots of the conflict, the mutual reactions between the two countries, the legal justifications provided by Greece and Turkey, respectively, as well as the position of international powers on this conflict, especially in the Cold War atmosphere, and finally the negative effects of this conflict.
