The correspondence records of the officers of the Arab offices are chronicles many topics in the colonial period, among them is the history of women and their effectiveness in Algerian society.

Djidjelli district also received the attention of the French colonizer, as a woman is an active member of the Djidjelli society, we find her present in many of the correspondences received in those records, perhaps one of the most prominent issues related to women and addressed in these correspondences is the issue of violence, women in the late second half of the nineteenth century were not isolated from the violent practices of society in Djidjelli, we find her the victim of some heinous behavior stemming from a despicable masculinity, we also find women committing violent practices that reach the point of criminality.
