and while Hegel made thought the main engine of history, fenced it with a metaphysical fence and made total or comprehensive history a tool in the service of power and the state, then the historian of intellectual systems, Michel Foucault, pushed this field of knowledge in a completely different direction, from the point of view of the subject or from the side of the method or the goal.

this article aims to investigate Foucault's point of view or his approach to the history of western thought through its reliance on the archaeological and genealogical method, bypassing the metaphysical view of intellectual history.
