Abstract EN

France believed, after the Battle of Algiers, that it had finally eliminated the armed resistance in Algeria and succeeded in dismantling its political organization.

however, the massive popular demonstrations organized by the Algerian masses since December 9 th, 1960 changed the course of the Algerian cause and shattered the myth of French Algeria, both inside and outside Algeria.

it revealed the criminal reality of French colonialism to the world, expressing the unity of the Algerian people and their belief in the principles of the revolution, their support for the NLF, and their opposition to de gaulle's policy contained in the idea of "Algerian Algeria".

these demonstrations were violently confronted by the centenarians and the French army by all means, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries, kidnappings, arrests, torture and even the enforced disappearance of many.

however, this did not prevent the continuation of those demonstrations to be supported by the PGA, which demanded independence and the right of the Algerian people to self-determination.

Which was achieved with the support of the countries of the world for the Algerian revolution and the issuance of the declaration of the general assembly of the UN confirms this right,, which eventually led to Algeria’s obtaining its independence in 1962.
