Abstract EN

This paper aimed at diagnosing the reality and status of SMES in Algeria, and their role in diversifying and promoting the Algerian national economy.

during the period between 2011-2021, by analyzing the various data contained in the annual reports issued by some Algerian ministerial bodies (ministry of industry and mines, ministry of tourism and handicrafts).

the study concluded that the contribution of SMES to the diversification and promotion of the Algerian national economy was marginal, and in the context of supporting and promoting this sector due to its great importance, Algeria established 17 incubators and 28 facilitation centers, which contributed to the creation of more than 4,860 new small and medium enterprises, and the creation of more than 27,661 jobs during the period (2011-2021).
