Abstract EN

The current study tackles the Iranian-French relations during the period (1801-1809).

at the beginning of their relations, there was an Iranian-French affinity, acknowledging their own goals for this purpose.

on one hand, the purpose of their political rapprochement was that Iran hoped to gain the French assistance in extracting Georgia and other areas from the Russian control.

on the other hand, France with the aid of Iran, was looking for an opportunity to control India.

things developed between them until they culminated in a cooperation agreement between them in 1807.

however, by the end of 1807 and after the treaty of tilsit between France and Russia, the political developments witnessed in the European continent led to the failure of Iranian-French diplomatic relations.

by using Iranian sources and reports, this study sheds light on the struggle of the great powers over the East, where the center of which was the Iranian and Ottoman states.
