The rewriting of the myth is a theme that has been the subject of numerous reflections whose main objective is to explain the role played by the myth in the safeguarding of cultural identity and in the collective unconsciousness of a community.
within the framework of this article we try to show how the rewriting of the myths by the Maghrebian writers contributed to preserve the cultural inheritance and at the same time is useful for the progression of the style of writing of its writer through the updating of the myth of elkahina (a historical character, a Berber princess) in the writings of the Algerian writer Kateb Yacine and the Moroccan writer Mohammed Khaïr-Eddine.

La réécriture du mythe est un thème qui a fait l'objet d'étude de nombreuses réflexions dont l'objectif principal est d'expliquer le rôle joué par le mythe dans la sauvegarde de l'identité culturelle et dans l'inconscience collective d'une communauté.
dans le cadre de cet article nous tentons de montrer comment la réécriture des mythes par les écrivains maghrébins a-t-elle contribué à préserver le patrimoine culturel et au même temps sert à la progression du style d'écriture de son écrivain à travers la réactualisation du mythe d'Elkahina (un personnage historique, une princesse berbère) dans les écrits de l'écrivain algérien Kateb Yacine et l'écrivain marocain Mohammed Khaïr-Eddine.
