the article attempts to answer a problem related to the effects of security threats on societal security by taking note of the various definitions of societal security and related concepts, as well as to Barry Buzan's interpretation of the security phenomenon by reconsidering the impact of non-material factors in light of the increasing role of the social and cultural variable.

the study found that globalisation; immigration, technological development, ethnic conflicts and the spread of transnational phenomena have become a direct threat to the identity of groups within the state.
