Abstract EN

This paper, by tracing the historical course of Turkish foreign policy, from the establishment of the Turkish republic in 1923 until now, and the accompanying significant changes, will attempt to answer the following question: what has been constant and shifting in Turkish foreign policy since the establishment of the republic in 1923 until now? and it seeks to examine two assumptions: first, that the orientations of Turkish foreign policy related to the balance of relations between East and West are what explains Ankara's desire for more independence, with a commitment to alliance with the West.
