Environmental management control (EMC) is a reaction to the integration of the environmental dimension in the tools for managing the company’s performance in an environmental management context.
the purpose of this article is twofold.
on the one hand, it eliminates ambiguities around the EMC concept.
on the other hand, it contains a presentation of the EMC tools enriched with some real examples of some international companies.
the literature review confirms that the CGE studies are a continuation of the work of environmental management accounting.
the EMC’s tools are concerned with measuring non-monetary environmental information to determine the environmental impact and the modification of strategic objectives and the action plan based on the results obtained.
companies gain a good reputation after disclosure of this information.

Le contrôle de gestion environnementale (CGE) constitue uneréaction à l’intégration de la dimension environnementale dans les outils de pilotage de la performance de l’entreprisedans un contexte du management environnemental.
l’objectif de cet article est double.
d’un côté, il permet l’élimination des ambiguïtésautour du concept CGE.
d’un autre côté, il contient une présentation des outils du CGE enrichis avec quelques exemples réels de certaines entreprises internationales.
la revue de littérature confirme que les études du CGE sont une continuité des travaux de la comptabilité de gestion environnementale.
les outils du CGE s’intéressent à mesurer les informations environnementales non-monétaires pour déterminer l’impact environnemental et adapter les objectifs stratégiques ainsi que le plan d’actions sur la base des résultats obtenus.
les entreprises gagnent une bonne réputation après la communication de ces informations.
