Abstract EN

This article seeks to clarify the subtleties of text in the preludes of ruin (Al-Atlal) remembrance, which constitute a large portion of pre-Islamic Arabic poetry— especially in the poetry of the Suspended Odes (the Mu'allaqat).

These preludes embody the problematic nature of the relationship between the poet and the ruin (Al- Talal).

We deduced their significance and attempted to uncover the creative aspects in them by relying on the following methodology: Firstly, we presented a preface on the meaning of standing by the ruins in pre-Islamic poetry.

Secondly, we defined the term of Ruin or Al-Talal in the context of both language and terminology.

As a third point, we discussed the emergence of Ruins (Al- Atlal) as a subject in pre-Islamic history and the reasons behind it.

Afterwards, we studied the properties of Ruins in the poetry of the Suspended Odes, and in the end, we observed several psychological and sociological dimensions that manifest within the poetry of the Mu'allaqat
