This research paper seeks to introduce the subject of sustainable development, address its various challenges, and mention the most appropriate strategies to confront them.

Concern for development projects and meeting the needs of current and future generations has become a necessity for research and field work.

It is unlikely that humanity will be happy, or states will prosper, unless the required social and economic well-being is achieved.

the study decided to choose the descriptive analytical approach, in order to identify the most important challenges facing sustainable development, and analyze the various reasons that contribute directly and indirectly to the failure of development projects, or distortion of development outcomes, to then draw up the necessary strategic plans.

Facing the challenges of sustainable development requires providing the appropriate legal, political, economic, social and environmental environment for the success of development projects.

Political will, partnership in drawing up plans and goals, optimal utilization of resources, good dealing with the environment, rationality in employing technology, and international cooperation in accordance with standards of transparency, justice, equality and respect.

These are all factors that encourage the success of development projects and enhance the chances of achieving sustainable development.
