In recent years, government subsidies have become one of the most controversial issues at the national level in Egypt in terms of their impact on improving the quality of life of the poor and on the state budget.

Support was introduced in Egypt in the 1960s when the state began to impose socialist economic measures; there are several forms of government support in Egypt.

First, food support is in the form of ration cards given to eligible families, which are adjusted according to family size as monthly rations of food necessities.

Second, the energy subsidy, which was aimed at providing poor families with affordable energy services, supporting local industries to compete internationally, and attracting foreign investment.

Third, support in the form of tax cuts for developing companies.

Fourth, support in the form of non-tax incentives as land for investment in specific remote areas targeted for development by the government.

In addition, there are other support programs.
