Abstract EN

The current research aimed to prepare a proposed conception of what the social studies curricula should be in the middle school, with its elements represented in: (objectives, content, activities, evaluation methods), in the light of sustainable development and identifying the effectiveness of the developed curriculum in developing life skills for middle school students in Libya; To achieve this goal, a list of the dimensions of sustainable development that should be available in the social studies curricula at the intermediate stage was prepared, and a tool was prepared to analyze the content of the social studies curricula at the intermediate stage with its three grades (seventh, eighth, and ninth) in the light of the dimensions of sustainable development, and then the dimensions were translated into a set of indicators Which is considered a basis through which it is possible to measure the availability of dimensions in the social studies curricula at the intermediate stage, and finally to reach the proposed vision for the current social studies curricula in the middle stage, and a life skills scale test were prepared.

The results of the current research resulted in the following: Social studies curricula in the preparatory professional stage do not meet the dimensions of sustainable development.
