What has been agreed upon is one of the most important purposes of sermon, the speaker aims to convince the addressee of what he wants and make him believe and accept what he says or dissuade him from what he is according to the various and varied expressive methods that play.

In addressing both the mental and emotional aspects, whereby the addressee actively pushes the mind to perceive, reflect and meditate, as well as what he is talking about by gaining feelings and emotions, especially as the influence of language becomes more than weapons, and this is achieved only by those whom God has given the ability to delve into internal matters and clarify the facts of things and their enjoyment of the linguistic ability that enables them to obtain the quality of expression and creativity of style.

And one of those whom God loved with was Imam Al-Maraghi Mohammed Mustafa Al-Maraghi who took over the Sheikhdom of Al-Azhar twice.

This was clearly demonstrated in his sermon in defense of Al-Azhar against the false allegations made by those who feared by Al-Azhar's role in public life.

He had to influence the interlocutors' hearts and win them to recognize the correctness of his opinion and the truthfulness of his claim, refute corrupt ideas, and correct his perverted beliefs and concepts.

The research came under the title "Methods of Persuasion in the Sermon of Sheikh Al-Maraghi in Al-Azhar: A Rhetorical Study".

The sermon construction was dominated by the method of clarification after ambiguity, the method of emphasizing, the method of declaring and others, and less in the methods of constructing it based on imagination, such as simile and metaphor and the importance of blowing up the springs of this trend in rhetorical studies It is recommended to highlight the statement of the impact of rhetorical methods of persuasion in the formulation of speech in poetry and prose, where this behavior has become An essential requirement in achieving good communication with others
