Abstract EN

The main objective of the research was to estimate the demand elasticity of red meat, white meat and fish and to study the relationship between the prices of these commodities.

The main results were: 1- The results of the estimation of the price demand function on fresh beef for each category of income under study showed that the estimated coefficients for the three categories were about -0.57, -0.45 and -0.21 respectively, while the total sample was estimated at -0.39.

The estimated income elasticity coefficient was about 0.51, while the results of the estimation of the cross demand function indicated that the price of kg of live chicken on the quantity purchased from fresh beef indicates that the estimated cross elasticity coefficient was about 0.16, Price of kg of tilapia fish Quantity of meat purchased fresh beef at the moral level of 0.05.

2- The results of the estimation of the price demand function on live chickens for each category of income under study indicated that the estimated coefficients for the three categories were 0.39, 0.26 and -0.13 respectively, while the total sample was estimated at -0.26.

The estimated income elasticity coefficient was about 0.25, while the results of the estimation of the cross demand function showed that the price of kg of fresh beef and the price of kg of tilapia on the quantity purchased from fresh beef indicates that the estimated coefficients were 0.6 , 0.35 respectively.

3- The results of the estimation of the price demand function on tilapia showed that the estimated price elasticity coefficients for the three categories of income under study was 0.62, -0.48 and -0.0.24 respectively ,while the total sample was estimated at 0.43.

The estimated income elasticity coefficient was about 0.34 , The estimated results of the cross demand function showed that the price of kg of fresh beef and the price of live chicken on the quantity purchased from fresh beef was estimated to be 0.33, 0.36, respectively.

4- The Three Stages Least Squares (3SLS) method was used to estimate the equations of the simultaneous model proposed for simultaneous relations between the price of kg of fresh beef , the price of kg of live chicken and the price of kg of tilapia and the main results were: a- The positive relationship between the price of kg of fresh beef and the price of kg of live chicken was estimated at a significant level (0.05).

The estimated regression coefficient indicated that the price of kg of beef increased by about 9.9% with an increase in the price of kg of live chickens by about 10%.

No significant effect was found for the price of kg of tilapia or per capita consumption of beef on the price of kg of fresh beef at known moral levels.

b- The positive relationship between the price of kg of live chicken and each of the price of kg of fresh beef and the price of kg of tilapia was statistically confirmed at a significant level (0.05).

The value of the regression coefficients indicated that the price of kg of live chickens increased by 6.8%, 4.9% with an increase in the price of kg of fresh beef and the price of kg of tilapia fish by about 10%, 10% respectively.

No significant effect was found for per capita consumption of live chicken on the price of kg of live chicken at known moral levels.

c- The positive relationship between the price of kg of tilapia and the price of kg of live chicken was statistically confirmed at a significant level (0.05).

The value of the regression coefficients indicated that the price of kg of tilapia increased by 7.3% with an increase in the price of kg of live chicken by about 10%.

No significant effect was found for per capita consumption of tilapia on the price of kg of tilapia at known moral levels.
