Abstract EN

This article is interested in the beginnings of the intellectual and literary movement in Tunisia with reference to the book of Mohammed Al-Fadhil Ben Ashour, which deals with this issue through a historically-staged overview from 1883 to 1953.

The emergence of this movement is approached through listing the factors that shaped the context for this movement of thought and literature.

These influences have political, social, economic and intellectual aspects.

They are brought together in a thorough picture of the successive historical periods of this movement to identify the features of literary development that echoed the transformations that Tunisia had witnessed in various fields.

So, it is the alternation between what is political, social, economic and reformist on the one hand, and what is intellectual and literary on the other hand.

Through this article, we seek to introduce a significant era of Tunisian literature, and to historicize a period that contributed to the shaping of the intellectual and literary movement in Tunisia.
