Abstract EN

This study aims to find out how well female teachers are aware of the role of psychological guidance in educational institutions.

The study was conducted on a sample of 100 female teachers in Misurata basic education schools (2019).

For the study, the study was descriptive, utilizing teacher questionnaires.

The researchers used the Pearson correlation coefficient, weighted mean and weighted percentage in data analysis.

From teachers' perspectives, the study results showed the importance of the role the psychological counsellor plays in the tasks he performs in serving students in schools, as this was reflected by the high weighted means and high weighted percentages of those tasks gained from the questionnaire data.

All questionnaire items were complete, with weighted percentages ranging from 67.3 - 89.6 and weighted means ranging from 2.02 - 2.78.

In the light of the above findings, the researchers suggest a set of recommendations: the necessary resources should be available for the psychological counsellors, which may include offices, tests and metrics, and various activities; the psychological counsellor should undergo assessment, guidance and supervision procedures; and provided with training sessions that equip them with state-of-the-art knowledge in their field.

Based on the results of this study, the researchers also suggest conducting future research studies on the evaluation of counselling processes in schools.
