Abstract EN

The researcher in the history of Cairo in the last years of the Mamluks era, specially under the sovereignty of Qansua El Ghoury, face a difficulty of shortage of the Arabic sources.

The sources of European travelers form a treasure of precious knowledges about Cairo at this time.

The travel of Austrian noble, from German Origin named Martin Baumgarten, to Cairo and Sinai in his way to Palestine to visit the Holy Places in Palestine, consider one the most valuable of those sources.

Because we researched already the life of this Austrian noble, from German Origin, his diaries, his stops through the maritime travel till Egypt, his description to Alexanderia and lower Egypt cities and countryside in the commencement of 16^th century.

This article's aim was using the diary of this European traveler, to follow his days in Egypt since he arrived to Cairo till he left the boundaries of Egypt to Palestine.

The paper focuses on using this diary of travel as an eyewitness view to describe Cairo and Sinai in 1507 A.

D, under the rule of Qansua El Ghoury, in comprising with another European travelers' texts to reveal the importance of this diary, and its value for the history and civilization of Cairo and Sinai in the last decade of Mamelukes era, which misses the existence of Arabic sources can be used to wright the history.
