Abstract EN

The sugar beet extraction factor reached about 13.92% in 2016, an increase of about 5.53% over what it was in 2012.

the research problem is that sugar production in Egypt from beets represents 56%, and the rest is from sugar cane, and that the average citizens' consumption of sugar is approximately 3.2 million tons annually, while the rate of production reached 2.5 million tons in 2019, when nearly 700 thousand tons of sugar to fill the deficit in local production.

the study aimed at: 1-knowing the items of sugar beet production costs in the new lands and the old lands in the Sharkia governorate, as well as the total revenue.

2-measuring the indicators of the productive and economic efficiency of the sugar beet crop in the studied sample in the new lands and the old lands in the Sharkia governorate.

the importance of the study in identifying the positive or negative factors and variables that affect the quantity produced from beets.

the study relied on the two descriptive and quantitative methods represented in the coefficient of variation of the studied variables, as well as the general temporal trend of some variables, and the use of indices, studying the items of production costs of sugar beet crop per acre by sample as well as revenues, in addition to some indicators of productive and economic efficiency of the study crop, then estimating the production function for sugar beet crop in the form of a cup-douglas, and finally to study the problems facing beet growers by sample and some suggested solutions.

results of the study : the data of the production function of beetroot in the old and new lands and the total sample indicate that it is in the phase of diminishing capacity savings with a percentage of about 0.863, 0.854, and 0.861, respectively
