Abstract EN

The article deals with the methods adopted by commentators in relation to quran’s indication that the Harut and Marut were involved in magic in verse 102 of Surat al Baqara (2).

These are methods that stem from the inherent embarrassment that resides in the relationship of angels to magic.

The efforts of the exegetes were based on another "reading" of the verse, on changing its grammatical structure and on invoking the accounts of the ancients which relate the origins of magic.

And if the article was concerned with explaining the resemblance of the Islamic narrative with the narratives of previous religions, it also looked at the aspects of amplification in relation to the will of the exegete to reconcile the dispersed meanings throughout the Quranic text.
