In this research paper, I study daily life in Celestial Bodies of Jokha Al Harthi.

I, in particular, examine verbal and concrete practices and rituals.

Referring to analytical tools from cultural criticism, I try to unravel the intricately woven cultural modes in literary rhetoric, which affect the composite tastes, tendencies, and representations of culture.

As modes stand for structures including hidden and visible sub-modes, I focus on the mode of magic, especially its manifestation in the novel, by exploring its types, effects, functions, and codes in order to disclose its main sub-modes fossilized in the culture and grasp its hiding mechanisms used to maintain its dominance on the culture that it represents.
