Abstract EN

This study deals with the sovercignty of states and its impact on protecting the rights of civilians, because in recent years the interventions of the major powers have increased in the internal affairs of weak states.

The study explores that there is a flagrant violation of the principle of national sOvereignty, based on that the study aims to clarity the concept of national sovereignty in light of international changes and to clarify the effects of the change in the concept of sovereignty, in comparison with Islamic jurisprudence.

In this study, the researcher used the historical, descriptive, analytical, and inductive method.

The study concluded that the sovereignty of states is no longer absolute as it was before the Cold War, and that international cooperation requires relinquishing some aspects of sovereignty.

The study also recommends respecting the sovereignty of states, giving regional and local organizations an opportunity to protect devcloping countries from external interference, respecting the legitimate desires and aspirations of peoples, and the need to develop the Islamic concept of sovereignty and solve the problems associated with the concept.
