Abstract EN

The aim of this study is to clarify the natural and human causes of the low level of Chad Lake and the consequences for the economic and social life of the inhabitants of the lake basin.The problem is that this deterioration has been reflected in the life of the society, their stability and their social and food security, and the emergence of many disasters, such as drought, famine, migration, banditry and the deterioration of social values.

The importance of the study comes in trying to find ways to prevent the collapse of the lake.

And to identify the real causes so that they can be addressed or mitigate the effects.

To achieve this, the study used several historical approaches: to trace the history of the lakes decline.

Descriptive and analytical: to describe what the lake is now compared to the past and to analyze the exact problem.

And regional approach: to determine the astronomical location of the lake (supply circles) because it has an impact on the elements of the climate.

The study concluded the most important results: The environmental degradation in the region, which emerged in the rain deficit and its fluctuation spatially and temporally, and increase the amounts of evaporation caused by high temperatures, in addition to the impact of the human factor, which was the activities that eliminated the vegetation.
