Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the characteristics of drug abusers who are treated in treatment and correctional centers, to identify the dimensions of the phenomenon of legitimate addiction, to identify the factors leading to drug addiction, as well as to identify the impact of addiction on the family in the united Arab emirates.

to achieve these goals, the study relied on the social survey approach, and the use of a questionnaire tool for all field data.

the study followed the comprehensive survey method to select the study sample, which consisted of 180 released drug users, and participants in the (let's get well) program for therapeutic rehabilitation in the united Arab emirates.

the answers of the study sample were analyzed using descriptive statistics methods, and the use of statistical tests such as : one-way analysis of variance test, and tests for independent samples.

the results of the study showed that the general trend of the study sample towards the dimensions of the phenomenon of legitimate addiction came in a high degree, with an arithmetic mean of 3.71.

addicts in society, and the results of the study showed the spread of drug abuse and addiction to it leads to many social problems such as : family disintegration, divorce, academic failure, and increased deviation within the family, and the results indicated the best methods and methods of prevention from the dangers of drugs, represented in strengthening religious faith, and increasing attention proper social upbringing of children in families.

based on the findings of the study, a set of recommendations were formulated, the most important of which are : supporting and strengthening the efforts of the treatment and rehabilitation centers for addiction to help addicts get rid of addiction in a proper way to ensure that they do not return to abuse and addiction.
