Abstract EN

The research aims to present a brief study on the importance of antiquities and cultural and civilizational heritage، which represents a distinct richness system that determines the foundations of historical rooting that draws the identity of nations and peoples.

Civilizational heritage represents the living embodiment through which the communication links between the achievements of human civilization with its various names and eras emerge.

In this research, we tried to study the case of Iraq ، being one of the Arab countries that are rich in historical sites with archeology، culture and civilization; it is the cradle of ancient civilizations: Sumerian, Babylonian, and Assyrian, and the remnants of previous civilizations, such as the Roman, Byzantine, and Muslim Arabs, as well as the cultural and civilizational diversity of its historical sites within its vast territories, and the danger of sabotage that these cultural properties have been exposed to together with the unceasing violations as a result of wars, armed conflicts, and colonial domination throughout different eras of history, and how these violations and abuses that affect those cultural properties were reduced, through the application of legal procedures and legislation necessary to provide protection.
