Abstract EN

"In Jerusalem" is a poem written by Tamim Al-Barghouti touches the heart with its humanitarian and patriotic messages.

Tamim Al-Barghouti is a poet who was forced to leave his beloved homeland therefore he wrote this poem to highlight his deep love towards his country.

Despite him being distanced from his home country, he seems to know every detail of it as if he had never been displaced.

The aim of this research is to explain the most prominent linguistic features of this poem which is the lengthening of the poetic sentence.

Tamim Al-Barghouti lengthened his poetic sentence by multiple linguistic means to express his poetic emotions towards Jerusalem as much as possible.

This research studies, first, the length of the sentence of the poem by linking it to the direct object, the adverbial object, the benefactive object, the unrestricted object, the adverb, and tameez (the specificative).

Second, it studies the lengthening of the Twabi by the adjective, the verbal corrobabortion, the syndetic (Atf al-nasaq), and the appositive or the explanatory apposition.

Third, it studies the lengthening in the object, in more than one nominal subject, the adjective, and the adverb.

Fourth, it studies the lengthening of the Taakob in the nominal subject, the adjective, the adverb, the modaf eleh, and the object.

Fifth, it studies the lengthening of the apodosis.

Lastly, it also studies the lengthening of the parnthesis in particles or sentences.
