Abstract EN

The study centrally focused on one of the important topical topics at the international level: the dispute over the Renaissance Dam.

The research problem of the study is manifested in the fact that despite the existence of many agreements related to the Nile River that regulate relations between the Nile Basin countries, the current reality confirms the violation by some upstream countries of these agreements, represented by the State of Ethiopia, for building the Renaissance Dam unilaterally without referring to the downstream countries represented by Egypt and Sudan.

This study also aimed to reveal the causes of the ongoing dispute between the three countries, and analyze the legal positions of the Nile Basin countries with regard to the legitimacy of the Nile agreements, using the D escriptive Analytical Approach, and based on the findings of the researcher, the most important of which is that what Ethiopia has done is a clear breach of all principles and legal rules regulating the use of international rivers.

The researcher urges the importance of cooperation between the three countries to reach a peaceful solution to this dispute.
