Abstract EN

This research deals with the issue of rank in Arabic grammar, and its impact on changing the meaning, by clarifying the effect of the phenomenon of rank, known as the foregrounding and back-grounding in the "Late Night" collection, in order to form a prominent role in explaining the meaning that revolves in the soul of the poet Darwish, contrary to what appears in the original Speech.

In order to present the topic in a clear and comprehensive manner, the research was divided into three chapters : the first one began with defining the rank linguistically and idiomatically, with reference to the definitions of grammarians and rhetoricians therefor.

the second chapter tackles the effect of rank changing in Arabic grammar.

the last chapter addresses the phenomenon of foregrounding and back-grounding in the "Late Night" poetry collection of Mahmoud Darwish.
