Abstract EN

The present study aims to reveal the role of social support in predicting psychological resilience among the males relapsing and recovering from dependence on psychoactive substances.

The sample consists of two groups.

The first group consists of (50 recoveries) of males recovering from dependence on psychoactive substances with an average age of (32, 62 ± 5, 532) years.

The second group consists of (50 relapses) of males relapsing in psychoactive substances with an average age of (32, 42 ± 5, 051) years.

The scale of social support prepared by Shaaban Gaballah Radwan is employed.

It consists of three main components of social support: Cognitive, Emotional and Behavioral Support.

The psychological resilience scale has been prepared by Marwa Hussein Wasef, after calculating its psychometric properties represented in validity and reliability.

The results of the study have indicated the correlation between social support (total score) and psychological resilience (total score) for both groups.

except for the behavioral social support component which has weakly correlated with psychological resilience of total score in the group of relapses.

In addition, it has been revealed from the results that the variable of social support of total score interprets the psychological resilience of total score for both recoveries and relapses.

Accordingly, social support plays a role in predicting psychological resilience for both relapses and recoveries from dependence on psychoactive substances.

The results have been discussed in terms of the extent to which the study hypotheses and available literature have been validated.
