The current study aimed to identify the challenges facing the education of students with autism spectrum disorder in the context of the Coronavirus Pandemic in Saudi Arabia, as many parents and teachers complained about the application of distance learning in the context of the corona pandemic.
The main input in reaching these challenges was to rely on previous studies that dealt with the challenges of applying distance learning to children with disabilities in general and with autism spectrum disorder in particular.
The study dealt with this through the use of the documentary research method, which relied on the collection and study of documents related to the content of the research to reach a list of challenges facing education: Technical challenges, family and personal challenges of the student, teacher-related challenges, curriculum-related challenges, and finally material and administrative challenges.
In the light of the results, the study highlighted several recommendations, the most important benefit of the list of challenges when planning special educational programs for students with autism spectrum disorder in the shadow of the crisis.
The study also suggested evaluating the experience of distance learning for students with disabilities in the context of the corona pandemic, especially those with autism spectrum disorder, in order to avoid later deficiencies
