Abstract EN

This study aimed to determine the level of psychological burnout among the employees of Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education in the southern governorates in Gaza Strip, Palestine, and to identify the differences in psychological burnout in relation to selected variables (gender, type of work, age, years of experience).

the sample of the study consisted of 250 employees, half of them from Ministry of Health and the other half from Ministry of Education.

employees from each Ministry have been selected randomly.

the researchers used descriptive design.

for data collection, the researchers used the burnout questionnaire of Maslach.

the researchers conducted a pilot study on 60 participants to examine the reliability of the questionnaire, and alpha coefficient was 0.885.

the results showed that there was low level of psychological burnout among study participants (48.6%).

there were statistically significant differences in all domains of emotional burn out related to gender in favor of females except the personal achievement domain.

there were statistically significant differences in all domains of emotional burn out in favor of employees of Ministry of Education except in stress strain and emotional blunting domains.

also, there were statistically significant differences in all domains of emotional burn out related to experience in favor of employees with 25 years of experience and more except in stress strain.

the results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences in psychological burnout related to age of employees.

the study recommends the need to focus on the actual problems that the employees suffer from, including health, financial, and professional problems, and acting towards resolving of these problems.
