Abstract EN

The cultural heritage in the Jbala region is highly diverse, part of it is not known and researchers are invited to shed some light on it.

The goal of this study is to better understand the richness of intangible heritage related to a field with utmost importance in this region that is agriculture, as well as to contribute and shed light on its different dimensions.

The research approach evokes a group of myths that established a number of practices and beliefs regarding most of the agricultural activities in the different seasons, starting from plowing to wool sheering and removing weeds from the fields in spring, and all that festivities that accompany that especially the game of Mata, until harvest and winnowing time.

All these agricultural activities require skills that are passed down in Jbala region from one generation to another through practice and learning in the field, which makes researching this intangible heritage a chance to better understand social and cultural values these practices transpose to society.
