Abstract EN

Uqair port is one of the oldest ports known to the Islamic state.

Uqair port is distinguished by its distinguished geographical location and economic and commercial importance in the Islamic era that deserves research and study.

Its importance increased with the emergence of the Abbasid Caliphate in Baghdad (132-656 AH / 750-1258 AD).

In this study, we will discuss the port of Uqair in the Abbasid era and its historical and economic importance.

Objectives of the study: 1- Highlighting the importance of Al-Uqair port and the reflection of its vital location on the multiplicity of its economic and commercial roles during the Abbasid Caliphate era, in periods of its strength and weakness.

2- Working on extracting everything related to the public services that were provided to the ports of the Arabian Gulf in the Abbasid era (132-656 AH / 750-1258 AD).

3- Determining the service role of the port as a berth suitable for anchoring and providing services for ships coming from China, India, Zinj and other countries.

4- Emphasizing that the port was one of the important sea ports in the Abbasid era in sending goods.

5- Studying the various commercial service effects of the port during the Abbasid era, as the port was an important and main market of the old commercial markets in that period.

Approach: I relied on the historical method, as the research sometimes required the use of the analytical method, as well as the descriptive method according to the requirements of the research paragraphs.
