Abstract EN

Ottoman empire history is one of the most important disciplines that witnessed interest by Iraqi researchers and historians, and this is due to the extent of the influence of the Ottoman empire on Iraqi society in all its aspects.

It lies under the influence of the Ottoman rule for nearly four centuries, which had a clear impact on the reality of Iraqi society in all fields.

The current study focuses on the contributions of Iraqi historians and researchers about the Ottoman era because the Ottomans took control of Iraq in the sixteenth century until 1971 CE, the year in which postgraduate studies were released at the University of Baghdad.

The writings of Iraqi historians and researchers in Ottoman history were of great importance in forming a solid base from which Iraqi researchers and historians later benefited when writing their books, research and university theses.

The study also revealed that the writing of Ottoman history was not limited to historians, but some non-academic scholars, who were not specialized in history, had a;so a clear role in documenting Ottoman history.
