Abstract EN

The present study aimed at identifying scientific nicknames -titles- (Dr.

Professor, lecturer, Sheikh) and knowing its educational implications in the past and the present.

To achieve the goal of the study, the researcher relied on descriptive method as a research methodology, and the research consists in its general framework, an introduction, two chapters, and conclusion.

After addressing the topics of the study the researcher reached many conclusions, including: That the nicknames is used to indicate the name, and it is not used as a name (noun), And that those who used these nicknames in the past were really worthy of them because of their knowledge, morals and humility.

There are also modern scientific nicknames that are used by lecturers and professors in universities, because the university’s progress is dependent on qualified lecturers who have the highest ranks and titles that may qualify any university to be a member of the Association of Accredited International Universities, and these modern scientific nicknames are purely academic taken from Western educational systems, while the old scientific nicknames was indicative of the status of scholars and the breadth of their knowledge, which makes them an example for people in the field of science.

In conclusion, the researcher recommends the following recommendations: The necessity of paying attention to the old scientific nicknames in Islamic education systems and using them in our Islamic universities and Sharia colleges to preserve their status and not neglect the issue of modern scientific nicknames by focusing on the position only, and urge creativity those who have these nicknames to strive and innovate in scientific research to deserve these academic titles .
