Abstract EN

This is a study of one of the linguistic phenomena in the Arabic language: appending the affix of duality/plurality to the verb when it refers to an explicit dual/plural noun.

It is one of the considerable issues about which grammarians have disputed; some of whom presented various sayings in the interpretation of this issue.

The research is divided into an introduction, four sections, and a conclusion.

The first section deals with the occurrence of this language in the Holy Qur’an and the Noble Hadith.

The second section deals with the occurrence of this language in the Arabic poetry and prose.

The third section reviews the scholars’ interpretations of this language.

The fourth section is confined to study the dialect of Ytʻāqbwn fikum Malāʼikah and Semitic Languages.

The study concluded that it is a standard language, but it was not so frequently used.

Whoever stated that this language is abnormal or weak was misguided.

It is also incorrect to take what was narrated by some that /alif/, /waw/, and /nu:n/ are pronouns, as the Imams from whom this issue is taken unanimously agreed that it is the language of a special people of the Arabs.
