Like all economies in the world, the Algerian economy is always in search of sustainable growth.
however, the financing of the latter is essentially based on foreign exchange earnings mainly from hydrocarbon exports and which evolve according to the evolution of the prices of these materials on the international markets.
through this paper, we wanted to check whether oil price fluctuations have an impact on economic growth in Algeria.
to this end, after having presented a brief reminder on the use of the oil rent in Algeria, we first analyzed the stationarity of the two statistical series used and then applied the granger causality test in order to verify the existence of a possible causal relationship between the first series corresponding to the growth rate of gross domestic product in dollars and the second which represents the growth rate of the price of Algerian Sahra Brent oil in dollars.
the results of this work have made it possible to invalidate the hypothesis put forward at the start stipulating the existence of a causal link between fluctuations in the price of oil and economic growth in Algeria, during the period from 1983 to 2020.

A l'instar de toutes les économies du monde, l'économie Algérienne est toujours en quête d'une croissance durable.
cependant, le financement de cette dernière est basé essentiellement sur les recettes en devises provenant majoritairement des exportations d'hydrocarbures et qui évoluent en fonction de l'évolution des cours de ces matières sur les marchés internationaux.
a travers ce papier, nous avons voulu vérifier donc est-ce que les fluctuations du prix du pétrole ont un impact sur la croissance économique en Algérie.
a cet effet, après avoir présenté un bref rappel sur l'usage de la rente pétrolière en Algérie, nous avons d'abord analysé la stationnarité des deux séries statistiques utilisées et appliqué ensuite le test de causalité de granger afin de vérifier l'existence d'une éventuelle relation de causalité entre la première série correspondant au taux de croissance du produit intérieur brut en dollars et la seconde qui représente le taux de croissance du prix du pétrole algérien Sahra Brent en dollars.
les résultats de ce travail ont permis d'infirmer l'hypothèse émise au départ stipulant l'existence d'un lien de causalité entre les fluctuations du prix du pétrole et la croissance économique en Algérie, durant la période allant de 1983 à 2020.
