Linguistic and cultural diversity is a recurrent phenomenon in world societies.

in Algeria, the linguistic and cultural landscape enjoys a distinct cultural specificity, constituting a rich asset that should be nurtured and preserved by decision-makers and takers.

this diversity is manifested in language, religion, history, customs, etc.

this diversity in turn embodies the pillar for national identity.

nonetheless, language plays a prominent role in this fabric and one of the main components of national identity.

in this regard, the Algerian state has adopted many endeavors in its linguistic policy in order to preserve this diversity and unity.

our research paper aims to identify the importance of linguistic planning and language policy and their role in consolidating identity on the one hand, and their effectiveness in achieving cultural cohesion in the Algerian society on the other.
