Eastern and southern African countries have worked on regional integration and cooperation among themselves, according to a strategy that tends to remove customs restrictions, and then increase the volume of trade exchange between them.

therefore, the study aims to know the extent of Comesa's contribution to the development of intra-regional trade for member states, this was done by conducting an analytical study of the development of this trade during the period (1991-2021).

the study concluded that Comesa suffers from political and economic obstacles that impede its activity, Although the volume of Comesa intra-trade has grown from year to year, but it is still weak compared to the total trade.

this necessitates working to liberalize trade exchange and develop the productive fabric of the member states of the bloc.
