This paper aims at approaching the element of time in the contemporary Algerian narrative discourse taking the novel “Ana Wahaim” of the novelist HabibSayeh a model trying to answer many problematic such as: how did time manifest in the novel and what are the most important techniques in building up this narrative text? to what extent could these techniques realize the aesthetic aims? in this context, we tried to shed light on the most important used time components; we determined the natural time of the plot which gave the novel a realist dimension making it easy for the reader to keep up with the events, and also focused on the most important techniques through which the structure of the narrative discourse time had been shaped; it gave the narrative event semantic dimensions and added an artistic and aesthetic touch that boosted the text.
