Abstract EN

Numidian coins, like other archaeological sources such as punic and neo-punic stelae, Libyan inscriptions and the rest of the archaeological remains, are of paramount importance in the study of the ancient history of Algeria in general and the Numidian period in particular, due to our lack of local Libyan and punic literary sources, and our reliance entirely on the writings of ancient Greek and Latin writers who had no interest in the history of this region except when it relates to an important historical incident related to their history, we therefore aim through this study to shed more light on the nature of these sources, in terms of knowledge of their types and how to rely on them in the writing of ancient Algerian history in general, and its importance in historical writing during the Numidian era in particular.
